We followed a friend’s recommendation to consider the Hoste Arms as the place to stay on a planned trip to Norfolk.
When we checked out the website they had a mid week 2 night offer which included Bed, Breakfast and 3 Course Evening Meal and coffee for £315.00 per small standard room which we duly took advantage off at the beginning of June.
We had driven past the Hoste Arms the previous summer and said to ourselves “that looks a great place to stay” but forgot what it was called so we highly delighted when we arrived and it turned out to be the same place, a great start.
The hotel is a lovely old Inn which faces the village green, but extended behind with 2 further accommodation wings and a fantastic Moroccan themed outside eating area which was under construction when we stayed there.
The rooms were probably to plushest rooms I have ever stayed in, ours was a black and white French themed décor with silver furniture, a modern twist on French chic which certainly worked for me. The bathroom was also probably the best decorated hotel bathroom I have seen. Our friends in the same wing also had a French chic theme but theirs was blue and white and equally as plush. The other wing which was built a couple of years ago and situated across the car park from the main hotel has an African theme complete with shields and spears but all carried out with panache.
When I booked I informed them that one of our party was Coeliac and dairy intolerant and they assured us this was no problem and they would ensure they had soya mild and gluten free bread. they made sure there was both soya milk and gluten free bread available throughout my stay.
The menu was clearly marked with gluten free options which made it very easy for me to quickly select and order meals.
The food itself was excellent, there wasn’t a negative thing I can say about it, we enjoyed every single course, four very happy and contented dinners on both evenings. The hotel also provides with free tea and coffee for your entire stay, so you could come back from a trip sit in the one of big comfy sofa and have a coffe and very welcome additional touch
Another tip even if you have popped in for a coffee and a nose as you drive past, check out the ladies toilets in the basement, a five star hotel would struggle to match them.
Burnham Market is lovely, full of boutiques, artisan’s delicatessens and a shop with more ladies hats than we had seen in our entire lives. It is also well placed for heading along the coast towards Wells by the Sea and Cromer, or a visit to Sandringha.
The hotel is just superb from the food, the rooms and the excellent staff and is definitely top of the list for a revisit. If you can stand the budget spoil yourselves you won’t regret it.
