Barcelona

We have had visitors over from Australia the last couple of weeks so we decided to head off to Barcelona for a break.

So there was some last minute running around to find two apartments, not an easy task finding last minute apartments in Barcelona if you don't want to sleep on a sofa bed in the middle of the apartment.

Eventually we found two apartments; one with 2 double bedrooms and one with 1 double room, unfortunately on different sides of Barcelona centre about 15 minutes walk apart. Although we were all very pleased with them

Brosili ApartmentThe Brosili Apartment
This is a two bedroom apartment, right in the centre of the gothic old town, down a cute little alleyway. The gothic or the "el born" area has a range of shops and is full of small streets that come to life in the evening with bars and restaurants. It is not rowdy area, although it can get a bit frantic around midnight when everyone is queing up for their ice cream at the gelateria. From Brosili it takes about 15 minutes walk to Plaza Catalunya and 5 minutes to La Ramblas. The Jaume 1 metro station is 2 minutes walk from the apartment will take you anywhere in Barcelona quickly and efficiently, so the apartment is really an ideal situation

The apartment was very clean, bright and whilst it is quite basic it has lovely king-size beds and an additional single bed/sofa arrangement in the living room. The only downsides to this apartment is that it is on the 4th floor and there is no elevator however this beamed apartment made up for the climb and we were very pleased with the apartment and it's location. The cost of the apartment was 155 Euros per night for 4 people, roughly £105 per night, so well worth it's money for us.

Miro FThe Miro F Apartment
This is a luxury 1 bedroom apartment with an additional double sofa bed. It is situated in a more Modernist area of "L´Eixample", 300 meters from the shopping areas of Plaza Catalunya and Paseo de Gracia with their shops and department stores. Well placed for La Ramblas the main tourist street that runs from Plaza Catalunya down to the marina. This tree lined walk is the base for shops, bars, resturants, various markets and numerous street entertainers, see Las Ramblas Blog.

The Miro F Aparment was clean and offered every luxury you would expect from a property of this quality, HD LCD TV, Microwave, Smeg Fridge and beautiful bathroom. It is easily accessed on the first floor of the block via a wide staircase. The couple that stayed in this apartment were thrilled with it, as it offered them beautiful accommodation in an area that was quite at night but with easy access to everything they wanted. The cost for this apartment was 750 Euros, again about £105 per night. p>

Both apartments were booked through Enjoy Barcelona.com, they were really helpful particularly with helping us out at short notice and I would certainly use them again.
