The plaça Reial I realised today that although I had blogged about the accomodation in Barcelona and the Magic Monjuic Fountain but I didn't tell you about some of the other things we got upto on this brilliant short break

We had gone out with my Nephew Rowan, his girlfriend Steph who were over from Australia on holiday and my inlaws June and Keith so it was guaranteed to be a good holiday. Steph is studying Interior Design at Uni which included about Antoni Gaudi, so Barcelona was a great opportunity for her to see his work and for us all to have a good time experiencing Barcelona in summer.

A quick stop at a local Tapas BarOnce we had dropped off our kit at the apartment we headed out to make our way to June and Keiths on the other side of Las Ramblas. Well it was hot and we had been travelling for a couple of hours so we stopped off at a couple of bars on the way, just to be sociable with the locals of course, who knew there were so many bars between us.

The bars and the food in Barcelona was plentiful and apart from a bit of a dodgy experience in a pizza resturant, the food was excellent.

La Sagrada Familia by GaudiWe did a bus tour which took us around all the main sights in Barcelona including the amazing "La Sagrada Família" which just takes your breath away and the "Park Guell".

We even visited the immense Barcelona Football Stadium "Camp Nou" which can seat 110,000 people.

We always try and take these kind of tours, ok they can seem a bit crass but we found that they give you a good bearing on the layout of a city and they will always take you to places you would have missed. We definately recommend it for Barcelona it would be a shame to miss out on the fabulous Gaudi architecture.

The city centre is extremely clean, the council hose the streets down everyday and around the old town twice a day making visiting this city an real pleasure.

Barcelona really surpised us, we were there for 4 days and spent most of it walking around the city sightseeing but there is still so much we didn't see. We will definately be going back and always recommend it to people who haven't been.

We flew out from Doncaster Robin Hood Airport with Ryan Air, the flights cost about £48 return so it was cheaper than jumping on the train to London
