Lilly Pad B & BDuring our visit to Darwin in Australia's Northern Territory we stayed at a beautiful B&B called Lilly Pad Bed and Breakfast. Lilly Pad is situated in a district called Rapid Creek and is about 10 minutes drive (20 minutes bus ride) from the city centre in one direction and about 5 minutes drive (10 minutes on the bus) from both the airport and the territory’s largest shopping complex at Casuarina.

Lilly pad is a self contained flat situated on the lower floor of the owners property, it has one large double bed and childrens beds/cots are available on request. It provides open plan living which is nicely laid out in three distinct areas, kitchen/dining, living and bedroom areas. There are screens that can be drawn between the living and bedroom area if required. The wet room/bathroom is situated off the covered outdoor dining area, but is nicely decorated and actually in a very good spot.

You are not limited for outside space with this apartment, there is a large comfortable dining table in a covered patio area off of the central main living area. This patio includes the washing machine and access to the bathroom. There is also a small table and chairs in a shaded area, that almost gives the feel of being in the jungle, this is accessed from patio doors in the bedroom area.

And if this is not enough there is a great swimming pool with a further dining/barbeque area and sun loungers. This area is very secure with security fencing to prevent little peole accessing the pool without an adult. If between exloring the patios and lounging by the pool you want more adventure you can head to the back of the garden and visit the chooks who provide you with your eggs for breakfast in their large enclosure.

As well as the daily room service the hosts Joan and Simon provide free bicycles and helmets, and all the breakfast supplies you could wish for. This includes home baked wholemeal bread, cereals, milk, fresh fruit, yoghurt, juice. eggs, bacon, honey and jam, vegies and fruit in season. If you are very lucky Joan will have some of her georgous home made pickle in store, highly recommended.

Joan and Simon are wonderful hosts, quite happy to spend time chatting with you or leaving you to just enjoy your holiday on your terms, you feel like family friends who they love to look after.

The Lilly Pad is in a quiet residential area so if you want to be in the hub of the city then this is not the accommodation for you, if you want a quiet retreat with easy access to the city then it is highly recommended.

The apartment is lovely, it is spotlessly clean, well decorated & fitted out and has some beautiful artwork created by Joan.

The apartment costs in the region of AUS $130 for double occupancy, further details are available at Lilly Pad B&B
